Taking the Next Right Step, A Portrait of the Soul, and a Planet-Friendly Future
This month, I’m reflecting on how art, relationships, and mindful choices shape the way we move through the world.
Here’s what’s inside:
- Art In Progress: A question from Authority Magazine that made me rethink what it means to take risks.
- Creative Perspectives: A look into the transformative art of Karolina Witowska – from ink portraits to improv and manifestation workshops.
- Mindful Moments: What if environmental action wasn’t just a responsibility but a form of creative care?
Art In Progress
For me, art was never the “safe” choice. It was the choice that required faith – faith in my instincts, my creativity, and my ability to build something meaningful from scratch.
I shared more about this journey in the article, including the lessons I wish I had known when I first made the leap. You can read the full interview here.
Maybe you’re standing at the edge of a big change yourself. If you are, here’s something I’ve learned: You don’t have to know exactly where you’re going. You just have to take the next right step.
What’s a leap you’ve been considering? Hit reply, I’d love to hear about it.
Creative Perspectives
Karolina Witowska is a Polish artist whose ink-based work explores internal emotional landscapes. We first met in high school in Warsaw—while I was studying Spanish, she was part of the arts-focused class. We reconnected years later through a mutual friend, and I’ve since had the chance to follow her artistic journey more closely.
Karolina has developed a distinctive practice that goes beyond traditional portraiture. In her Pracownia Portretu Wewnętrznego (Atelier of Internal Portrait), she welcomes people into her cozy studio for deep, reflective conversations. As they share their thoughts on life, values, and challenges, she sketches multiple portraits—not just of their physical features but of their inner world.
Karolina is also part of an improv comedy crew in Poland, where she improvises live drawings alongside the performers—a concept that resonates with me and my partner, as we both have a background in improv. In addition to her artistic practice, Karolina is a certified art therapist. She conducts group workshops, primarily using collage techniques, often incorporating themes of affirmations and manifestation.
Her ink drawings are expressive and introspective, reflecting the many dimensions of human experience. Through her work, she invites people to slow down, reflect, and see themselves in new ways. Her work reminds me that art isn’t just about what we make, it’s about how we make space for others to be seen and understood.

Mindful Moments
Lately, I’ve been thinking about how we talk about sustainability. We use words like “offset,” “reduce,” and “minimize,” but what if we thought about it differently?
What if caring for the planet wasn’t about less, but about more – more intention, more creativity, more connection?
That’s why I choose to use Shopify Planet in my shop. Every order helps fund projects like reforestation and direct air capture. But beyond the numbers, I see it as a way to make environmental care a natural part of my art practice, just like choosing sustainable materials or creating pieces that last.
Here’s something to try: Next time you step outside, notice one small detail in nature that you might have overlooked – the way sunlight moves through leaves, the patterns in tree bark, the scent of the air. The more we notice, the more we care. And the more we care, the more we act.
What’s one small thing you do to stay connected to the environment? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
